Favorite Type Project
Coverpage for "My Favorite Type" Project

This poster was created as a personal tribute to my favorite typeface: American Typewriter. I’ve always been drawn to its nostalgic, mechanical charm—rooted in the look and feel of vintage typewriters, yet feeling modern and expressive. The goal of the poster was to highlight the personality of this typeface bold typographic treatment. Inspired by the iconic I ❤ NY logo and the spirit of New York’s urban design, I combined the classic slab serif structure of American Typewriter with energetic, graffiti-like composition. By playing with scale, weight, and contrast, I allowed the typeface to take center stage—bringing out its warmth, structure, and playful tone. This project helped me explore how a single typeface can carry history, emotion, and identity. It also challenged me to treat type not just as text, but as a visual form capable of storytelling and impact. It also pushed me to think more abstractly and creatively, treating type not just as information, but as a design element in its own right.
